Lutron has recently launched its Triathlon Select line of affordable, battery-powered smart shades and we’re excited about it!

This launch fills a gap in the battery shades market, where homeowners wanted the tried and trusted technology of Lutron, combined with manufacturing quality at a fixed price. At $599 plus installation, these shades are ideal custom made additions to any home. They’re also available within 2-3 weeks, which is perfect for last minute interior upgrades.

So, how do they keep the price fixed? Primarily by simplifying customizations such as the headrail and fabric options, but without compromising on Lutron quality.

 

There are two color fabrics to select from at this time (white and gray) and two opacity options. So if you have four living room windows and three bedroom windows you’d like to add window treatments to you can add 1% in the living room and room darkening 0% shades to the bedroom.

Lutron’s Triathlon Select smart shades range is powered by standard D-cell batteries and a Lutron processor. And you can control them with the Lutron App or remote control, setting scenes for times of day or just opening and closing when you want to. And did we mention that the motor is quieter when operating than a regular refrigerator?
